Coordination of Care

The goal of coordinated care is to make sure that patients, especially the chronically ill, get the right care at the right time, while avoiding unnecessary duplication of services and preventing medical errors. You’ll benefit when your doctor, health care provider, or hospital coordinate your care, because they will be working together to give you the right care at the right time in the right setting.

Pre-surgical Clearance/Medical Clearance for Surgical Procedures

The purpose of a preoperative evaluation is not to “clear” patients for elective surgery, but rather to evaluate and, if necessary, implement measures to prepare higher risk patients for surgery. Pre-operative outpatient medical evaluation can decrease the length of hospital stay as well as minimize postponed or cancelled surgeries.

To effectively provide this consultative service, the physician should understand the risk associated with the particular type of surgery planned and relate this risk to the patient’s underlying acute and chronic medical problems. The complete consultation should include recommendations for evaluation and treatment, including prophylactic therapies to minimize the perioperative risk.

Preventative Care

Preventive care focuses on evaluating your current health status when you are symptom free. Preventive care allows you to obtain early diagnosis and treatment, to help avoid more serious health problems. Your preventive care services may include physical examinations, immunizations, laboratory tests and other types of screening tests. During your preventive visit your doctor will determine what tests or health screenings are right for you based on many factors such as your age, gender, overall health status, personal health history and your current health condition.

Weight Management

Keeping a healthy weight is crucial. If you are underweight, overweight, or obese, you may have a higher risk of certain health problems.

About two thirds of adults in the U.S. are overweight or obese. Achieving a healthy weight can help you control your cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar. It might also help you prevent weight-related diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis and some cancers.

Eating too much or not being physically active enough will make you overweight. To maintain your weight, the calories you eat must equal the energy you burn. To lose weight, you must use more calories than you eat. A weight-control strategy might include:

– Choosing low-fat, low-calorie foods

– Eating smaller portions

– Drinking water instead of sugary drinks

– Being physically active

Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Low testosterone is a problem that affects many men. Anyone with a testosterone level below 300 ng/dL of blood is considered a good candidate for testosterone replacement therapy. The signs of low testosterone are fairly obvious given that testosterone is essiential for health and well-being in men. Reduced sex drive, drops in muscle and bone mass, sleep problems, trouble concentrating, low sperm count, and unstable emotions are the most common signs of testosterone deficiency. The main advantages of testosterone replacement therapy is the ability to undo all of these symptoms.

Here are the top ten benefits of testosterone replacement therapy.

1. Reduced Depression and Enhanced Mood

While several factors affect mood and cause depression, one of the most common factors for men is low testosterone. Depression leaves us feeling hopeless and fatigued. It causes concentration problems, affects sleeping and eating patterns, and makes people irritable. The positive effects of testosterone replacement therapyinclude improved mood and reduced depressive feelings.

2. Increased Libido

One of the best advantages of testosterone replacement therapy is increased libido. Men with low testosterone tend to have diminished libido and have a harder time gaining and maintaining an erection. Testosterone replacement could help to solve the problem.

3. Regulate Body Fat Distribution

Adequate testosterone levels promote healthier fat distribution in men. Men gain body fat when they eat too much, which is another common side effect of low testosterone. Testosterone therapy makes it easier for men to lose weight because it gives them the energy they need to exercise and develop a slimmer, more toned physique.

4. Increased Lean Muscle Mass

What man doesn’t want more lean muscle? Improved muscle mass is another benefit to undergoing testosterone replacement therapy. Men feel stronger and fitter after therapy and see a noticeable improvement in their physique. Many things affect weight in men and women alike, but having a lean physique and being physically active are the keys to change.

5. Increased Energy and Vitality

There are several potential causes for a lack of energy. Sometimes stress from work and daily life gets on top of you and you just don’t have the energy. Men with low testosterone feel more tired than usual. They also don’t have the energy to do the important things they have to. Even if they do start moving, they get tired faster. Testosterone therapy helps improve energy and vitality levels for men. Every form of the movement requires energy to some level, so this benefit leads to overall better quality of life in men.

6. Increased Bone Density

Bone strength is related to bone density. This is what makes bone density such an important consideration. For example, bones that lack density are more prone to breaking. While fragile bones are common in older women, it’s not something men usually have to deal with. However, low testosterone levels cause bone density problems, increasing the risk of bone fractures and damage. Testosterone therapy can help with this. Improved bone density is one of the long-term effects of testosterone replacement therapy.

7. Increased Fertility

If you and your partner have been trying to conceive and aren’t having any success, the problem could be a drop in testosterone. Fertility problems are a real concern for younger men who have more of a desire to have children, but it’s still an issue for older men as well. Luckily, Testosterone therapy leads to an increased desire to have sex and improves fertility as well. Please keep in mind that testosterone replacement isn’t enough to cure infertility by itself if there’s something wrong other than low testosterone. Though, it can be an integral part of the puzzle.

8. Increased Endurance and Strength

Testosterone replacement makes it easier for men to achieve their physical goals and reach desired strength and fitness levels. If you have lost interest in physical activity and looking your best, then testosterone therapy could help. It improves your desire for activities such as walking, running, lifting weights, and undertaking other strenuous exercises. You’ll have more desire to be fit and active, have the energy to go through workouts, and see better results from them.

9. Promotes Hair Growth

Hair loss is a common issue for men, so common that we have the term “Male-Pattern Baldness”. One of the long-term effects of testosterone replacement therapy is that it can promote hair growth in men. Testosterone is primarily responsible for body hair. In fact, it can give men the ability to grow beards. Please keep in mind that low testosterone doesn’t always cause baldness and increased testosterone doesn’t necessarily cause it, but increased testosterone levels definitely promote better hair growth.

10. Decreased Risk of Heart Disease

A decreased risk of heart attack is by far one of the best advantages of testosterone replacement therapy. Low testosterone is one of the major contributing factors of heart disease in men, which itself is one of the most common causes of death in both men and women. The therapy can help to reduce the risk of heart disease for men with low testosterone. If you are worried about your heart health, please consult us.

Testosterone replacement therapy is something every man with low testosterone should consider. Low testosterone causes all manner of problems in men, and the only cure is testosterone replacement therapy. While there are some potential side effects of testosterone replacement therapy, most of these are caused by excess testosterone.

Keep in mind those who already have proper testosterone levels should avoid replacement therapy. In fact, excess testosterone can cause increased risk of heart disease, gynecomastia, and increased risk of stroke. Please also note that testosterone hormone replacement therapy is not suitable for women and young children.
